UVA Mail Order Pharmacy
RENOVATION | CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA
MOI partnered with the University of Virginia on the delivery of a highly specialized Mail Order Pharmacy facility—an operationally critical environment designed to function as an elevated call center with integrated pharmaceutical processing capabilities.
Working closely with UVA’s lead facilities planner, Patrick Wright, the project began as a high-level bid and quickly evolved into a complex execution centered around precision, adaptability, and communication.
While the overall aesthetic prioritized efficiency and cleanliness over design expression, the impact of the space is significant for the client—supporting essential healthcare operations at scale.
Execution Highlights:
- Delivered a seamless installation with minimal punch, despite logistical challenges including a major February ice storm (resulting in only a one-day delay).
- Furnished the space with a mix of MillerKnoll, SitOnIt, and OFS solutions, aligning with UVA standards.
- Coordinated drop-ship seating with minor delays, proactively managed to maintain schedule integrity.
Interior Construction Focus:
The defining element of this project was the architectural wall scope. MOI’s Interior Construction team executed a highly detailed installation of both demountable and solid walls, requiring real-time coordination with the GC and facilities team on-site.
- Developed custom wall layouts that “zigzagged” around bulkheads and window mullions to fully enclose private offices.
- Achieved precise fits without altering existing building structure—something traditional construction methods could not have supported.
- Maintained constant communication across teams to anticipate challenges and ensure smooth delivery.
The Result:
A technically demanding project executed with precision—delivering a space that functions exactly as intended, under challenging conditions, and with zero compromise to the client’s operational needs.
