RENOVATION | 162,000 SF | FAIRFAX, VA

2013 AK17 119

George Mason University enlisted the help of MOI for its renovation of the Science and Technology (S&T) II building, adding a new laboratory wing for the College of Science. The existing 100,600 SF building and the four-story, 62,000 SF addition connects the S&T I and S&T II buildings to create an integrated facility for GMU’s science community. The new addition includes class laboratories for the departments of environmental science and policy, biology, chemistry, and atmospheric, oceanic, and earth sciences. It also features a new rooftop greenhouse for pilot science and research.

MOI collaborated with Perkins+Will and the university facilities team to create informal learning spaces, outdoor environments, departmental receptions, and contemporary classrooms.

After successfully completing the Exploratory Hall project, MOI worked with GMU on the Antonin Scalia Law Library and Alan and Sally Merten Hall. Our team continues to provide a variety of procurement and design services to GMU as they modernize the campus to meet students’ needs.
