For a long-standing client establishing a new presence in Washington, DC, MOI partnered with sshape to deliver a workplace that reflects both the organization’s mission and the evolving needs of its members and staff. 

Having supported this client across multiple locations, MOI brought a deep understanding of their culture, operational needs, and decision-making style. That foundation, paired with close collaboration between sshape and MOI’s team, enabled a highly efficient process marked by quick alignment, confident decision-making, and a seamless path from concept to completion.

The space itself is designed to support a wide range of workstyles, balancing individual focus with collective engagement. A diverse furniture palette was curated to bring both performance and personality to the environment, including workstations and private offices from Knoll, complemented by solutions from AIS, Bernhardt Design, Davis Furniture, and executive office furnishings from Geiger. Conferencing solutions from Herman Miller support both formal and informal collaboration.

Throughout the space, biophilic elements and varied seating postures enhance wellbeing and comfort, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to creating an environment where people can do their best work. A series of focus rooms and “micro-offices” provide quiet, private zones that complement more open, collaborative areas, ensuring employees have choice and control over how they work throughout the day.

Flexibility is a defining feature of the design. Architectural elements allow spaces to open and function as one, enabling the organization to host large-scale meetings, events, and gatherings without compromising day-to-day usability. This adaptability is paired with a retail-inspired, community-driven aesthetic—creating a welcoming, hospitality-forward experience that reflects the association’s role as a convener.

From early renderings to final installation, the project maintained an exceptional level of design fidelity. The finished environment closely mirrors the original vision, a testament to the strength of the partnership, the clarity of the planning process, and the trust established between all teams involved.
