Located in the heart of downtown Richmond, the Children’s Hospital of Richmond division of Virginia Commonwealth University, with the help of MOI, architect firm HKS and project management firm JLL, was delivered a true state-of-the-art, brand new construction of their 500,000 square foot inpatient facility. Their joint expertise in project management and design resulted in a cutting-edge healthcare space, prioritizing both functionality and aesthetics to enhance the well-being of the many young patients the hospital receives.
Utilizing the thoughtful curation of vibrant furnishings from Herman Miller, Kimball, SitOnIt, and others infused the hospital with an uplifting atmosphere. By employing a bright palette of colors, they not only created an aesthetically pleasing environment, but also fostered a sense of joy and inclusivity, ensuring the space feels comforting to its young inhabitants. Even with scheduling and budget constraints, the project was completed within a satisfactory timeframe, thereby providing the city of Richmond with a new, colorful way to provide much-needed healthcare.
