MOI is proud to announce our Diversity & Inclusion Program focusing on workplace culture, diversity education, and community outreach.
It started when MOI President, David Noel, sent a company-wide email encouraging employees to pause and reflect on how we could promote stronger actions against racism after watching the events unfold in Minneapolis in response to George Floyd’s death.
As a company and a family, we asked ourselves how we can be a part of the solution to end racism and promote diversity. Thirty-two of our employees volunteered to work together to provide a platform to address racial bias and diversity both internally and externally.
MOI closed all our locations early on Juneteenth so employees could reflect in unity with the Black community. Since then, we have established diversity and inclusion leaders in each market, identified avenues for community outreach, and formulated action plans on how to improve our workplace culture and educate one another.
Our first activity spanned across all four markets and was a huge success. Each market identified a local low income school via donorschoose.org, the number one classroom funding site for teachers.
Within two weeks, each school’s project was fully funded thanks to the donations from MOI employees! Our donations helped orchestrate virtual learning, provide resources for science projects, enhance ESL training, and create little libraries and art studios at home to help the younger generation as they embark on this new school year.
We will persist with compassion to make our world a better place!
