On Wednesday, August 22nd, MOI held a design competition and school supply drive in support of Operation Backpack. The program, run by Volunteers of America, supports homeless children in DC, Maryland and Virginia by providing supplies and backpacks for the upcoming school year. MOI was joined in sponsoring the event by Knoll and Transwall.
The event was supported by dozens of local Architecture and Design firms, with over 50 local designers in attendance. Teams of designers were tasked to decorate a backpack within an hour. Twelve teams participated and the results were remarkable. First place was taken by teams from Intec (below left) and RTKL (below center), with the team from ASD (below right) the runner-up. Over 40 backpacks of school supplies were donated, and over $500 raised through a raffle.
