MOI Announces New Hires and Professional Certifications

MOI is pleased to announce three new hires to further the firm’s strategic vision for 2011 and beyond.

Joanna Hoffschneider recently joined MOI as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. Joanna has ten years experience in the commercial real estate industry, with a background in business development, marketing and management from the perspective of Design, Engineering and General Contracting firms. Joanna is an active member of local industry associations, including NAIOP and CoreNet. As the leader of MOI’s Business Development and Marketing team, Joanna is responsible for developing strategy; strengthening client relationships; and growing our client base through excellence of service. She also plays an active role in ongoing training initiatives. Michelle Gulatto recently joined MOI’s Richmond office as an Account Manager. Michelle has over 25 years experience in design, and project management with extensive experience in managing large systems jobs, as well as  projects in Health Care, Universities, GSA, and financial institutions.

Michelle Gulatto joined MOI’s Richmond office in December 2010 as an Account Manager.  Michelle has over 25 years experience in design, project coordination, & project management.  She has extensive experience in large systems jobs, as well as office, bank, tenant, government, church, university, & healthcare projects of all sizes.  She has worked closely with clients, subcontractors, & vendors to create successful results.  She is a certificate holder through the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ), and has been a professional member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) since 1994.

Angela Whilden recently joined MOI as Director of Interior Solutions, in the firm’s Norfolk/Virginia Beach location. Angela has over sixteen years of experience in the design and furniture industries in Southern Virginia. Before joining MOI, Angela practiced as a Commercial Designer and also worked as an independent sales consultant, representing multiple manufacturers to the design community throughout Central and Southern Virginia. Angela most recently covered the commercial, Government and A&D sector for a large major manufacturer for ten plus years in Southern Virginia. She is a certificate holder through the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ), and is also a Certified Interior Designer (CID) registered in the State of Virginia.

Lauren Erisman, of MOI DC, was recently  awarded the Accredited Office Ergonomic Evaluator (AOEE) certification which allows her to evaluate an office workstation, identify priorities for ergonomic improvement, adjust existing equipment and make recommendations for equipment needed. Lauren is certified to train employees on the basics of workstation setup and proper adjustment of equipment to help increase productivity and comfort in the office. By combining the science of ergonomics and MOI’s unique product selection this opportunity allows us to deliver practical solutions to our clients to create a healthy workplace environment.

MOI and Manufacturing Partners Featured at Bisnow’s Schmoozarama

MOI and its manufacturing partners, Knoll, Kimball, Vitra, Furniture from Scandinavia and Allermuir will showcase select lounge seating vignettes at Bisnow’s Schmoozarama on Wednesday, February 9th at The National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Joanna Hoffschneider, MOI’s Vice President of Business Development and Marketing commented on her excitement about the event, “This really speaks to the strength of our manufacturing partnerships and we take tremendous pride in these relationships.” Each vignette will highlight unique lounge seating and side tables that speak to the diversity and sophistication of MOI’s collections.

MOI’s New Washington, DC Building Earns LEED Platinum Rating

The 340,000-square-foot 1200 Nineteenth Street has secured LEED Platinum core and shell certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The 11-story building, owned by Houston-based Hines, is located in the capital’s central business district. Sustainable elements include air-handling units; fresh-air ventilation rates that exceed required standards by at least 30 percent; natural lighting from energy-efficient glass curtain walls; high-efficiency plumbing fixtures; recycling 88 percent or more than 3,900 tons, of construction waste; recyclable building materials that accounted for 35 percent of the renovation; advanced lighting controls minimize light pollution to the atmosphere; and the green roof and deck system reduces storm water runoff. The redevelopment also earned an Energy Star for Hines, securing 99 out of 100 possible points. The refurbished and expanded 1200 Nineteenth St. is currently 55 percent leased. Tenants include: MOI, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P., McKinsey & Company Inc. and retailers Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Mai Thai and Mixt Greens.
